I create light and movement with watercolor paint, inviting viewers to experience a moment in time. When I see a scene with a story and the light is just right, I have to paint. You may find me working in some little corner in a place you pass everyday.
This show is a collection of both plein air and studio work. Every painting tells a story and I invite you to enjoy the narratives."
Catherine Hillis is an award-winning watercolorist. She resides in Lake of the Woods, Virginia, surrounded by the historic Civil War Chancellorsville and Wilderness Battlefields.
Hillis competes in national watermedia competitions and national plein air events, earning hundreds of awards and nine Signature Memberships in National Organizations. A regular contributor to American Watercolor Weekly Newsletter, she’s been featured in many publications, including Watercolor Artist, the SPLASH books (including the 2024 issue)...
...PleinAir, the Washington Post, Fine Art Connoisseur Magazine and Watercolour Magazine. She’s served as an Artist in Residence in Dinan, FR; Hot Springs National Park, AR and she’ll be in residence at Chateau d’ Orquevaux in November 2024.
